Rotator Cuff

Shoulder pain often starts in the shoulder blade and ribcage area. Once the shoulder blade (scapulae) stops moving correctly, it forces the shoulder joint to start moving differently leading to compensation patterns.

These compensation patterns usually involve pain and tightness in the upper trapezius and levator scapulae muscles. This often leads to neck pain and stiffness as well. As a result, shoulder pain can be a very confusing thing to properly diagnose. These altered movement patterns often lead to tendinitis, bursitis and other shoulder problems. If left untreated, these simple shoulder problems can escalate into rotator cuff tears. Our sports medicine physicians are skilled at detecting biomechanical movement pattern issues within your shoulder and they have the tools to correct the poor movement patterns thereby restoring the proper range of motion to your shoulder. If your pain turns out to be coming from your neck, we have you covered. We can determine if it is caused by a herniated disc or misalignment in your neck and have solutions for both. Don't let a relatively simple shoulder problem turn into a rotator cuff tear. We have digital x-ray right in our office and if we feel you need an MRI to make the diagnosis, one will be ordered for you.
